Perfumes, pack designs, campaign visuals, and distribution strategies that enrich brands, rather than dilute them.

Our Services

We develop and manufacture products with strong personalities to authentically represent the people and brands working with us; in doing so, we create products that stand out from the homogeneity currently found in the market.

We create concepts tailored to each brand, proposing names, scents, packaging, visuals, and communication strategies. We guide you through each step while giving you ultimate control over the process, ensuring that the brand’s vision and identity are not only protected but enriched.

We partner with trusted suppliers around the world, with whom we’ve worked for over 20 years, to manufacture products with the utmost integrity.

Our Pillars

Savoir-faire:
Performance and originality are non-negotiable for us. Our formulas, made with the greatest precision by the best in the industry, are at the intersection of artistic craft and chemistry. Each of our perfumes diffuses perfectly, lasts, and carries a unique signature.

Coherence & Continuity:
We develop a central concept that captures your brand’s personality, and from there shape the scent, name, packaging, and visuals as coherent expressions of that idea. Guided by this vision, we craft a distribution strategy safeguarding the brand’s image before scaling it to wider audiences.

Love at first sight:
We design our perfumes to become one with the wearer. Irresistible to them and unforgettable to everyone they meet, our scents are instantly recognizable, lovable, and completely addictive.

Who are we?

The founders of Perfume Makers, father and son Frédéric and Lucien Malle, are a nimble team blending youth and experience, partnering with a diverse portfolio of extraordinary artistic partners.

Frédéric Malle

Frédéric Malle

Starting his career as an advertiser at Agence Havas before joining the legendary perfume laboratory Roure Bertrand Dupont, Frédéric learned his trade under the lab’s C.E.O. and star perfumer, Jean Amic. After his training, he became a consultant, developing products for people such as Mark Birley and Christian Lacroix, as well as companies like Hermès International.

Realizing that the perfume business was fatally heading towards mass market standardization, Frédéric took an unconventional step and founded Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle in 2000.

The company, a contemporary luxury perfume house, was meant to restore and renew the French luxury perfume industry. There, for the first time, perfumers were treated like “authors”— their names appeared on the bottles, and they were given total creative freedom to make their best work. Frédéric’s contributions varied with the needs of each “nose,” from “editing” finished perfumes to participating in every step of the creative process.

In addition to perfume creation, Frédéric developed all other aspects of the company, including its visual identity and customer experience. More specifically, he designed the company’s signature bottles and packaging, ideated the names of each product, invented new perfume evaluation machines, worked with celebrated photographers on imagery, and collaborated with renowned architects on his stores, each of which bore its own aesthetic while maintaining a common structure that allowed clients to choose “their perfume” according to a unique selling method designed by Frédéric.

Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle was one of the first “Artisanal Perfume” companies to be founded in decades. Since then, the business category has proliferated. Many see Frédéric as the man who set the standard for this dynamic market.

Lucien Malle

Lucien Malle

Raised between Paris and New York, Lucien grew up embracing both tradition and modernity.

He began his career at L’Oréal, where he developed and honed his product development, branding, and marketing skills over five years.

He then studied perfume-making under the authority of the master perfumer Dominique Ropion, following the same rigorous curriculum that Frédéric had undergone when working at Roure Bertrand 35 years prior.

Lucien is now completing his MBA at INSEAD before joining Perfume Makers LLC full-time as its Managing Director, specializing in product development and procurement.
